COOKIE POLICY – Clinical Corpus website

Last Updated: September 9, 2026.

This Cookie Policy explains how the Clinical Corpus website (the “Platform”) uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies when you visit or use our services, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. WHAT ARE COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE

1.1. Cookies: Small text files placed on your device by a website, sent back to that site on later visits, commonly used to remember a login or a preference.
1.2. Local Storage and Session Storage: Similar browser technologies that also store small pieces of data on your device, but are read only by the website that set them and are never automatically transmitted with every request the way a cookie is. The Platform relies mainly on these rather than traditional cookies — see Section 2.

2. WHAT THE PLATFORM ITSELF STORES ON YOUR DEVICE

2.1. Theme preference (local storage): Remembers whether you last chose light or dark mode, so the site opens in the same mode next time. Contains no personal data and does not expire on its own.
2.2. Search access token (local storage): If you are logged in with an active plan, a signed access token is stored so the search box can talk directly to our search service. It contains your user ID, email, and plan tier, expires automatically after 1 hour, and is refreshed silently while you remain logged in.
2.3. Conversation history (session storage): The questions and answers from your current chat session, kept only so the page can restore your conversation if you reload it. This is cleared automatically when you close the browser tab — it is never sent to us as a cookie and is not retained across visits.

3. WORDPRESS DEFAULT COOKIES

3.1. The Platform runs on WordPress, which sets a small number of standard cookies for logged-in visitors — for example, to keep you signed in, or to remember screen display choices. These last between one day and two weeks depending on the cookie, and are removed automatically when you log out.
3.2. Full detail on these default cookies is listed in our Privacy Policy.

4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

4.1. Google Fonts: The Platform loads typefaces from Google Fonts. Google’s font-serving infrastructure does not use cookies to deliver these files.
4.2. Search backend: Search questions are sent directly from your browser to our search service on a separate domain, authenticated by the access token described in Section 2.2 — not by a cookie.
4.3. The Platform does not use third-party advertising or analytics cookies.

5. MANAGING OR DISABLING COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE

5.1. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and site data through their settings, and you can clear local/session storage for this site specifically from your browser’s developer tools or site-settings panel.
5.2. Blocking or clearing this data is your right, but it will reset your theme preference, sign you out, and clear your current chat conversation — the search box itself will still function once you log back in.

6. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

6.1. The Platform may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the technologies it uses. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision.
